In honor of 50 years of The Odd Couple, here is a series of tidbits you may (or may not) already know:ġ) While remembered as a key ingredient on ABC’s kids-friendly Friday night line-up (consisting of The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Room 222, The Odd Couple and Love, American Style), The Odd Couple aired Thursday at 9:30 p.m. But nothing could match, or come close to, the magic of Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. There was even an animated version of the series, The Oddball Couple, on ABC in 1975 featuring the misadventures of a dog named Fleabag and cat named Spiffy, who live together under the same roof. Other have tried to recreated the magic of The Odd Couple: ABC with The New Odd Couple with Ron Glass and Demond Wilson in the 1982-83 TV season and CBS with Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon in the lead roles from 2015-17.
